“THE TIME TO FIX THE ROOF IS WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING.”

– JOHN F. KENNEDY

Restoring life’s balance with just the right balance of light.

We truly believe in the significance healthy light has on human wellness – and in your right to receive it.

However, there are many areas of the world that either experience a significant reduction in natural daylight due to climate conditions, or the people within communities simply do not have lifestyles conducive to leisurely outdoor activity. Rather, in many areas of the world the daylight gained through outdoor activity and labor have been replaced with indoor jobs or activities under electric lighting for 8-12 hours a day. As our lives require us to be awake and focused further beyond sundown, there grows a demand for lighting systems which help support and maintain our physiological health.

Having limited access to daylight and being overexposed to electric light can cause a gradual shift in our body’s natural circadian rhythms. If our rhythms shift too much, we may find ourselves with undesirable health conditions and likely a chip on our shoulder. How could we have known what we would create when we invented electric lighting? And how great is it to know that we can now do something about it?

The transition from restorative light therapy to health boosting light:

Models of Circadian Light Strategies

CLINICAL APPLICATION – “Bright Light Therapy”

Building and source are separate from each other and are controlled separately. Source not designed for space’s design aesthetic.

Higher Intensity of Light (fc) =
Shorter Duration of Exposure

NESTED APPLICATION: “Passive Light Therapy”

Building and source are partially integrated for limited control system integration and to reinforce the space’s design aesthetic.

Medium Intensity of Light (fc) =
Moderate Duration of Exposure

INTEGRATIVE APPLICATION: Circadian Lighting

Building and source are fully integrated so circadian light can be dynamically controlled and meet the building’s design aesthetic.

Lower Intensity of Light (fc) =
Longer Duration of Exposure
